What To Expect: Our Process For New Client Tax Preparation
After we have received your signed Engagement Letter, you will receive an email to setup your secure portal. The portal allows you to send us documents securely and is where we will upload your tax return. (To access the portal, click here: Portal)
Upload your tax documents to the portal and fill out the Individual Tax Checklist. Please wait to upload documents until you have the majority of your tax documents ready to upload.
Upon receipt of your tax documents, we will then prepare your tax return. Most tax returns are completed within 2 to 4 weeks after we receive your documents. Tax returns are prepared on a first come, first serve basis. The quicker you get us your documents, the sooner we will have your return prepared. If we receive your documents less than 4 weeks prior to deadline, then we cannot guarantee your return will be finished by the deadline and may need to be extended.
Once preparation of your tax return has begun, you will receive an email with your invoice. No work will be completed until the full payment is collected.
After preparation of your tax return is complete and the payment of your invoice has been received, you will receive a copy of your tax return to review. Please look over the draft return to ensure information is accurate. If any changes need to be made, please contact us and we will get it fixed and send you an updated draft. You can also schedule a Return Review meeting for us to walk you through your return. For more information about the Return Review service, visit our Services page.
After you have reviewed your draft return and can confirm that no changes need to be made, please sign the signature form (Form 8879). Form 8879 must be signed by you (and your spouse if filing a joint return). (Note: once Form 8879 is signed, no further changes to your return may be made.)
After we receive the signed Form 8879, your return will be submitted to the IRS.
